Iverson turning over a new leaf

Now at over 30 years of age, Allen Iverson continues to amaze even his most ardent fans. He is having quite possibly his best year to date. His scoring average of 32.8 points per game through 13 games is the highest of his career, and his 44.1% field goal percentage is well above his career average of 41.8%. His assists are at an all-time high, and he continues to be among the league lead in thefts per game. However, the most impressive statistic in all might be his turnovers. Despite playing the most minutes of his career, and dishing out the most assists of his career, his current rate of 3.08 turnovers per game is the second lowest of his career, only 0.03 behind his best average established in 1997-1998, his second year in the league.

Penetration, Rebounding Holding Back 76ers

11 games into the season and the 76ers have a winning record. There are more than a few positives to the early season. The team is clicking in a manner in which nobody could have predicted offensively, ranking among the NBA’s elite in nearly every statistical offensive category. The team ranks in the top 10 in points per game, field goal percentage, and assists per game. They are scoring 104 points per game, at a rate of 1.29 points per shot. Allen Iverson is scoring a career high 32.4 points per game at a very impressive 44.7%. Chris Webber has exceeded expectations as he rebounds from a tough second half to last season, and Andre Iguodala has shown flashes of asserting himself. So what is the hold up? The other side of the ball.
