Holy Greedy Bitches
I just stumbled upon this. Apparently, a judge has Michael Strahan a deadbeat for only paying half of the $6.5 Million divorce settlement. Last year, his ex-wife was awarded a $15 million dollar settlement, which included $6.5 million up front and $18,000/month as child support. Wow.

No one ever said it would be this hard
Come up to meet you, tell you I’m sorry
You don’t know how lovely you are.
I had to find you, tell you I need you,
Tell you I set you apart.
Tell me your secrets and ask me your questions,
Oh lets go back to the start.
Running in circles, Comin’ up Tails
Heads on a science apart.
Nobody said it was easy,
It’s such a shame for us to part.
Nobody said it was easy,
No one ever said it would be this hard.
Oh take me back to the start.
I was just guessin’ at numbers and figures,
Pulling your puzzles apart.
Questions of science, science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart.
And tell me you love me, come back and haunt me
Oh and I rush to the start.
Runnin’ in circles, Chasin’ up Tails
Comin’ back as we are
Nobody said it was easy,
Oh it’s such a shame for us to part.
Nobody said it was easy,
No one ever said it would be so hard.
I’m goin’ back to the start.
I was just guessin’, At numbers and figures, Pullin’ the puzzles apart
Questions of science, Science and progress, Do not speak as loud as my heart
Tell me you love me, Come back to haunt me, Oh when I rush to the start
Runnin’ in circles, [sounds like] Chasin’ our tails, Comin’ back as we are
Nobody said it was easy
Aww It’s such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard
I’m goin’ back to the start
Ever have a time when…
You know exactly what you want, but neither of the two options you have look like they can get you there?
No matter what you do, it feels like the wrong answer?
Life can be a bitch sometimes.
No commentsTransformers
(I should preface this by saying I was a huge transformers fan growing up, and fit right in the age bracket they were targeting).
I saw Transformers a little over a week ago (Sunday the 15th) with my brother. I haven’t gotten a chance to write about it because i’ve had other things on my mind, but the movie was friggin awesome. With everything that’s going on in my life right now, it was exactly what I needed. This was the type of movie that was the definition of fun. Sure, it might not have been a very intellectual movie, but I’m a firm believer not every movie has to be. There is a place for “fun” movies, and there are well done fun movies and poorly done fun movies. This was done nearly perfectly for the genre. The CGI was flawless. There might have been special effects that have been comparable in the past, but never that have fit into the movie so seamlessly. They honestly looked like they were on set. It reminds me very much of when I watched Jurassic Park for the first time in that regard. It will change all future action movies. The action was great, and it had its moments when it was funny (it was one-liner funny, not thought provoking funny, but again, there’s nothing wrong with that). The story wasn’t anything special, but it didn’t seriously detract from the action. Some people complained about the changes from the cartoon, but I honestly had no problem. Bumblebee might have been a Camaro in the movie instead of a VW Beetle (although I liked that they paid homage to the Beetle by having a yellow one in the auto lot), but they still captured the essence of the Transformers. In the end, you couldn’t help but root for Optimus Prime to win, and for Bumblebee to pull through. It was a movie about action and heroes, and it pulled it off splendidly.
No commentsCommercial and our society
Heard a commercial the other day that basically poked fun at suicide. The commercial started off that this person was going to jump off a bridge. Somebody came to talk her off the ledge, and rattled off things she should be happy about. They went over things like marriage, job, etc, with the women’s responses being things like “just got laid off, just got divorced, etc”. Out of desperation the person says “car?”, and she goes into this big happy speech about the car she just got, and steps back off the ledge and doesn’t jump.
I want to get this out of the way. I do not personally find this offensive. What I do find offensive is the double standard on what is “ruining children” or “desensitizing children”. We have “shock jocks” (who’s job it is to push the edge to make people laugh) getting kicked off the air almost daily. Jesus Christ, we had a huge, national incident involving a breast in the superbowl that made us the laughing stock of the world. A BREAST. Video games are constantly desensitizing todays youth (despite the fact that violent crimes among teens is plummeting). So in otherwords, you can’t see a breast on tv, or see a pixelated cartoon hit someone, but you can joke about suicide in order to sell an automobile.
Wonderful world we live on.
No commentsThe amazing Matt Barnes
Matt Barnes recently expressed frustration with his Free Agency. His cimplaint, and I quote:
“I was talking to a lot of people who were telling me that I needed a big-time agent to get that big money. That’s the main reason I decided to change agents
Big time money? Matt Barnes? I mean, great job of improving this past year and for the first time in your life establishing yourself as an every day player. But big time money? For one year of 9.8 ppg, 4.6 rpg basketball? When your previous career year high was 4.5 ppg? Do you really think you’ve proven yourself enough to warrant big time money?
I used to have respect for Matt Barnes. He worked hard and did so quietly. He’s been a little “high maintenance” this past year though. And if he really thinks he’s worth “big time money”, then he overvalues himself as well.

Now, I liked Transformers as much as anyone growing up. But this is just…..wow….

New Job
As I alluded to in the Hope I didn’t burn too many bridges post, I have left HostMySite and began working at a new job. The new position is a Systems Administrator for a media relations company, with my primary responsibility managing the cluster of Linux servers.
On the one hand, it sucks to leave HostMySite. The work environment was great, there were a lot of people I truly considered friends, and it was a great experience. It was my first real experience working in a world class data center, which was invaluable. Plus, I got the chance to learn from some really bright and accomplished people in this field. And, most importantly, I was working with people I honestly considered friends.
The new position is the position I was working towards, however. The ability to be working as a linux sysadmin day in and day out is invaluable, and the field we’re in is exciting. I’m looking forward to the job responsibilities. I’ve got a lot of work to do, and a lot to learn, but I’m up for the challenge.
I wish everyone at HostMySite the best, and hope they all keep in contact. And I’m still looking forward to shooting everyone that goes in airsoft!
No commentsSixers earn passing grade in NBA Draft
The Sixers walked away from the NBA draft this past week gaining a little bit of everything. From NBA ready players to potential stars. From Power Forwards, to Small Forwards, and Shooting Guards. The Sixers have addressed both positional need and talent, and as such walk away as winners.
