Monitors oh-my

I’m a monitor person. I can never have enough screen real estate. I recently bought a second video card to put in my computer at work so I can setup 4 monitors:

They’re over two different bus types (pci-e and pci, unfortunately I don’t have two pci-e slots to setup in SLI), so I had to disable Xinerama, which was painfully slow. But just having 4 monitors to use is a godsend.

I got rid of mergefb after upgrading OpenBSD on my workstation… because I had to. XrandR replaced both it and Xinerama (which has zero acceleration in everything but the primary monitor with our Optiplexes) in the source tree OpenBSD follows.

Configuration took some finagling but I finally got it working, and it’s a lot better. I even have some buggy compositing and even more buggy rendering engines to play with.

It’ll get there eventually. I hope.

Yeah, I was thinking of trying XrandR. I just gotta stay late some time to break my box :)

If you want my config to check out, just lemme know. It’s actually pretty simple and seems to recognize those stupid splitter cables a lot better.
