My name is Derek Bodner. I was born in Bethlehem, Pa, and grew up in nearby Emmaus, Pa, graduating from Emmaus High School in 2000. I went to college in Philadelphia (Drexel University, class of 2006), and still live there.
My passions for life are family, animals, sports and computers. I have many other interests, but if I had to say what drives me, those are it.
I work for Insider Guides in New Hope, Pa as a Linux Systems Administrator. I’m a GNU/Linux user, with my distro of choice being Gentoo.
I’m an avid sports fan, and am a season ticket holder for both the Phillies and Sixers. I’m a columnist for RealGM (Sixers and Phillies) , and also the Systems Administrator for DraftExpress.com.
I’ve recently gotten into amateur photography, some of which is online at my Photo Gallery and also posted at times on my blog.
Musical Tastes:
Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Hendrix, Metallica, Meat Loaf, The Beatles, AC/DC, Audioslave, 2pac, Eminem, Notorious B.I.G., Coldplay, Dave Matthews, Clapton, Guns N’ Roses, Temple of the Dog, just to name a few. My main genre growing up was definitely grunge, but I like a bit of everything.
TV Shows:
Not much. The Shield, House, 24, Law and Order: SVU and Sports are pretty much the extent of it.
Favorite Movies:
Godfather, Goodfellas, Gladiator, Something About Mary, American History X, Fight Club
Computers:
For my desktops, usually use a combination of Gentoo and Xfce as my desktop environment. Besides my desktop, laptop, and desktop at work (all running Linux), I also have 3 personal servers (all Gentoo), manage the servers for DraftExpress (Gentoo and Debian), and at my work (Gentoo, CentOS and RHEL).

Work:
I’m a Linux/Network Administrator there for a company called Insider Guides, and manage a fleet of Gentoo/CentOS/RHEL servers. Insider Guides develops a series of websites, including myYearBook.com. We’re based out of New Hope, PA.
