Job Promotion
I’ve got some good news to write today, and some very bad news. The good news is actually a few weeks old, and the bad news just happened this weekend, in what was one of the worst (if not the worst) weekends of my life. But more on that later.
On Tuesday, August 22nd I got a promotion. Completely random, I was actually going in to interview with a different position when they offered this position to me, without even an interview. I started that day as a ‘Dedicated Server Engineer’. It’s basically a support staff that solely handles our dedicated server clients. But it’s a lot more server-side work, and it’s really a good learning experience, a good thing to put on the resume, and it came with a substantial pay raise too, which never hurts.
So far it’s been good. While I’m happy with what I’m doing now, there’s no doubt I’m hoping it’s a jumping point for more in the future.
No comments1 field table?
So I had a customer today complain because her SQL development tool wouldn’t let her create a ‘1 field (auto-increment) table’.

Edgar Codd is rolling over in his grave right now. What’s the purpose? To help you count? How is that relating the key to anything. Huh?
I love our customers.
Also, today I registered my new favorite domain name, ihateaccess.com. Maybe someday I’ll put something intuitive and catchy up there. Maybe someday I’ll do something worthwhile with ihatemivamerchant.com as well. Until then, it’s something simple.

New job supports Wordpress as an option for webhosting plans, so I figured it would be a good idea to install it and test it out. Didn’t feel like installing it on any of the domains they gave me, so I put it here.
